ERA Activation

What are the prerequisites for ERA Activation?

1.      Following are the prerequisites for ERA Activation :

  • Successful installation of ERA Framework
  • Successful installation of ERA Explorer
  • Time Zone of the server machine where you are installing the ERA should be Indian Standard Time (Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta)
  • System date and time of the server machine where you are installing the ERA should be set to current.
  • You must have registered your Server on Worm Software
  • You must have downloaded ERA Activator from ERA home page when you open ERA Explorer

2.      Do I need to install any application on my client for accessing the ERA?

  • Yes, you need to install ERA Explorer, Adobe Flash Player and VLC Media Player on the client machine. ERA Explorer can be installed on client machines using following link.

3.      What can I do if ERA is not accessible from one of the machine in the network?

  • Check the LAN connectivity first; check that all PC’s are accessible from the server machine and vice a versa.
  • Disable the firewall setting of Client and server.

4.      I have installed ERA successfully however I am not able to access ERA, I am using Firefox or Chrome or Opera Web Browser. What should I do? OR

     Which Web Browser is required for accessing ERA?

  • ERA Explorer is required for accessing ERA.
  • ERA will not visible in any other browser. (Firefox, Chrome etc.)

ERA eContent Issues

ERA eContent Issues

 While learner tries to see the eContent he gets the error as Page cannot be found. What am I supposed to do?

  • This error message comes when the eContent is not loaded.
  • Load the content which you have been provided using the ERA LF Login.

.      Other Issues :

  • The Sessions are not loading, and a blank dialog box appears

  • Not able to see the Hindi font
    1. Solution: You need to enable Unicode on the System
    2. Go to Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options
  • Select the Keyboard and Languages Tab. Now click on the Change Keyboards button.
  1. Select the General Tab and click on the Add button
  2. Select the required languages as shown
  3. Click OK to save the changes and close the Regional Options panel.
  • Restart the computer
  • Not able to see the Content/White screen in ERA
    1. Solution: You need to ensure that complete content is copied on server.
    2. Even after this you are facing the issue ensure following steps
  • In Control Panel>Add/Remove Program check if VLC is installed
  1. If VLC is not present then download VLC media player from link: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
  2. Learner Not able to solve Do It Yourself Activities for BS-CIT or
  • Session Completion Certificate not generated for BS-CIT
    1. Solution: Download and install ERA Framework update 2.6 released on 9th Jan 2017
    2. Learner can now attempt Do It Yourself Activity
  • Once the learner attempts Do It Yourself activity, he/she can generate Session Completion Certificate by clicking on Node named Session Completion Certificate present in the respective Session
  • Learner when trying to attempt Session End Test gets message as you are not eligible for this test.
    1. Solution: Download learner data for the said course from LF login
    2. Once the course gets downloaded successfully, Learner can now attempt the test without any issues.

      .Oops! 404, The requested source is not available.

  • Solution: Click on Notification button shown in below screenshot and download the desired content from the list.

  • Go to our portal by using following link:

  • Then Click on For Kushal Yuva Program Login
  • Then Enter Your User Name (KYP SDC code) And Password and Click on Login
  • Then Click on Support Icon   support-tab  Which is placed at the middle position of the right side of the screen.
  • Then the I Need Support Window will be appear on screen
  • In this window you have to select Project (KYP) then Select Type as Support then Select Categories Of Support from Drop Down list (e.g. Questions, Admissions, Academics, Support, )  Support
  • Then Choose Language of question
  • Then Type Subject (Subject should be short. Max character limit is 60 Characters)
  • Then Enter Description of Issue in detail.
  • If you have a Screenshot of Issue Then Select Yes Radio button which is placed in front of Attach file option. Then Click on Upload & Save Button OR
  • If you don’t have any screenshot Then Select No Radio button which is placed in front of Attach file option. Then Click on Save Button
  • Your support Ticket will be getting raised with Specific Ticket ID.

  1. Downloading Software from Internet:
  • Download and Install eLectaLive Screen Recorder from following link
  • Link: http://www.screenrecordings.com/
  • Follow following steps to configure eLectaLive Screen Recorder
  • To Start double click on eLectaLive Screen Recorder icon from desktop
  • Then Click on New button
  • Then From Movie Properties Window Select Full Screen Recording Option
  • Then Click on Configure Presenter video
  • Then  Select Position of Picture from Drop down option (e.g.) Bottom right
  • Then Click on OK Button Then Click On Start from Recorder Ready Window
Your Screen recording will be get started after 5 Seconds, and your photo will be displayed at Bottom Right Corner of the screen.
Note: At every time when you are going to make Processfolio you must enter different file name to your recording. Otherwise it will be get overwrite with old one.

2. Compressing Processfolio :
  • Download and install Format Factory tool for Compressing video from following link

  • And then convert selected video into .mp4 format. Now you can upload this compressed video.

PRE-REQUISITE

1.   PRE-REQUISITE

Before you proceed with the Framework and Content installation, kindly ensure that following pre-requisites are present on your server machine. Also kindly ensure to upload you server details on WORM as in absence of your server details on WORM you won’t be able to proceed with the installation.

·         Dual Core 2Ghz Processor (with Hyper threading) or Quad Core 2Ghz Processor or Equivalent
·         8GB RAM (UPGRADE UP TO 16GB)
·         1TB Hard Disk
·         DVD W/R
·         15 inch Screen / LCD Monitor
·         Webcam
·         Multimedia Keyboard
·         SPEAKER
·         Ethernet Port (10/100/1000 Mbps)
·         4CELL STANDARD BATTERY UP TO 6 HOURS BATTERY BACK UP (in case of Laptop)

If you have all the pre-requisites present you may proceed with the installation as per steps below. Kindly note that ERA framework only needs to be installed on server machine and not on client machines. For client machines you will only have to install ERA Explorer.

2.   DO’s and DONT’s FOR SERVER.


·         DO’s
o   Always ensure that your server configuration matches the recommended server configuration at all times (before and after installation as well).
o   Ensure proper maintenance of server machine i.e. timely backup, timely anti-virus scan etc. so as to avoid any issues due to system crash.
o   Ensure to take Learning backup on day to day basis from ERA LF Login. This will ensure that the learning records of learners are safe & intact.
o   Ensure that server is connected to Internet directly and not through any proxy connection.
o   Continuous Internet connectivity is not required on Server machine. Internet connectivity is only required during uploading and downloading of records in ERA from LF Login.
o   Ensure that a proper power backup arrangement is present on your center at least for your server machine so as to avoid system crash in case of sudden power fluctuations.
o   Ensure to upload the learning records from ERA LF login on daily basis once all the batches are over for that day.
o   Ensure that a Good Anti-Virus is present on your server machine so as to avoid your server being infected by Viruses and corrupting your System/ERA files.
o   Ensure to delete the unnecessary files from temp folder as well as from the recycle bin so as to avoid disk full message on C Drive.
o   Ensure that sufficient of free space is available on C Drive before learning starts at your center on a particular day.
o   Ensure to protect server machine with a strong password so as to avoid any learner using your server machine.
o   Ensure to keep the Anti-Virus, Adobe Flash and VLC Media player updated on your server machine at all times.


·         DON’T
o   Once you have installed the ERA framework, ensure that the Hard Disk and RAM of server machine are not changed and are as per the details that has been uploaded on Worm. Any change in the server machine components will result in stoppage of ERA and ultimately the learning at the center.
o   Ensure that server machine is never used by any of the learners coming to center for learning. Learners must access the learning content only on client machines.
o   Ensure that no other software which utilizes high CPU or Memory is installed on the server machine. If such a software is present on server kindly ensure that such software is not running on server machine when the learning through ERA is in process at the center.
o   Ensure not to delete/modify/change any of the ERA related files on server machine as doing so will block ERA at you center and eventually learning will be stopped at your center.
o   Ensure not to copy/keep your personal files/folders on C drive of your server machine so as to avoid disk full message.


3.   ACADEMICS (Learning Facilitator-LF)


a.       ERA-LF
·         LF before proceeding to teach the learner, should first get himself/herself acquainted with all the features of ERA which will help the Learning experience of learner to be more fruitful
·         LF should carefully study the Learner dashboard so that they can further explain learner how to view the marks of scored by a learner after solving Take a Challenge and Take a Bigger Challenge activities
·         LF should visit the content pages and also solve some Take a Challenge and Take a Bigger Challenges so as to get the first hand feel
·         LF should be able to identify the Sequential content in the course (Sequential content in the course is highlighted with Orange color)
·         Visit the ePortfolio section and try to view some activity posted by learners
·         Visit the Session Wise content, Session wise Test and other collaborative/Group activities present within the KYP courses.
·         LF should be well acquainted with the LF login in ERA
·         LF should know the following  sections/links in LF login
                                                              i.      Learner Download link- For Downloading the ERA Username & Password for learners
                                                            ii.      Course Download link: For downloading course details (new as well as existing course updates) 
                                                          iii.      Reports link- To keep track of Learning & Assessments done by learner
                                                          iv.      ePortfolio section- To view the ePortfolio activities posted by learner and publish the exhibition of the same.
·         After end of each batch, LF should login in to ERA LF login and upload all the marks of learner for that particular batch
·         After end of all the batches for that particular day, LF should take manual backup of ERA

4.   ACADEMICS (Learner)


A.   CONTENT VIEWING

·         Open the Content Page from the personalized login provided
·         Check your details on the Learner home page like your name, your center etc.
·         Now select the desired language of your choice to view the KYP Course content
·         In the next page you will see the Dashboard on the Left hand side. It will show details of marks that you will score by solving activities of Take a Challenge and Take a Bigger Challenge
·         In dashboard you will also see the distribution of marks the course leaner has selected.
·         Select the view course Content link to start with the learning
·         Start with the Session 01
·         Proceed with learning and viewing the content
·         To mark something very important concept or definition while viewing the content,  select the My Notes Option
·         Save the concept/definition to My Notes section
·         If there is any difficulty in understanding something, select the Ask a Question Option from the Learning Content page
·         Post your question in the Ask a Question section
·         View the questions posted by fellow learner in Ask the Expert Section
·         Post the answer in case you are having answer to some question posted by your fellow learner
·         In this manner proceed with further Sessions
·         If you follow the above process, after completion of a Session you will have comprehensive notes for that Session which you can use to revise for before giving Session Completion Test
·         After completing all the topics for that particular Session, go to the Take a Challenge topic. Solving Take a Challenge activities will help you score marks.
·         Complete all the Take a challenge for that particular Section

B. SEQUENTIAL CASE STUDIES & e-PORTFOLIO

·         Open the first Sequential Case Study (Orange Content) of the Session
·         Look at the various outputs enhanced level wise
·         Start the Case Study
·         Learn a Particular skill to create Output as per the Case Study
·         Open the application and perform the skill
·         Simultaneously learn and perform the various other skills needed to prepare the Output
·         If case study cannot be completed in one session, use the bookmark option
·         From the Content page, select the Bookmark option and place a Bookmark where you finished in that session
·         Save the Output that has been created in that particular session.
·         In case you forgot to save the bookmark for previously viewed content page, then you can use the last visited page link from the Learner Content home page
·         In new learning session, open the page from the Bookmark option where you left in the last session
·         Open the Output which was saved in the previous session
·         After completion of the Case Study, an Output of the same will also be ready by learning and performing.
·         After completion of all the Sequential Case Studies of a Session there will be same number of Outputs ready to be uploaded
·         After completion of the case study/topic for that particular day, you should use the the log out button to logout of the ERA, as if you directly close the login window your time you spent in ERA will not be take in to consideration. So make sure to use the logout button to log out of ERA
·         Learning Facilitator publishes the exhibition of all the created Outputs.
·         Learning Facilitator takes printout of the best output created and displays it on Notice Board
·         After viewing all the case Studies, solve the Take a Challenge and Session completion test for that particular Session.
·         After solving, go to the dashboard in your login and check your marks as well as the details of for which you have used hints to solve and for which you did not require hints to solve
·         Go back to that particular Take a Challenge for which you have used hint
·         Solve that activity again to score Full marks for that activity
·         Now go again to dashboard and see your score increase by the day as you keep on solving the Take a Challenge.

C. SESSSION COMPLETION TEST

·         Complete viewing the content of Session
·         Select Session Completion Test node from that particular Session to attempt test
·         Attempt the test of that particular Session
·         After completion of Session Completion Test, view your marks
·         Check the answers which were Incorrect
·         Go to the Content Page, use the search Content option and check for that particular concept which went wrong  in test
·         Add that particular concept to My Notes section on Learning Content Page so it is easy to revise
·         Next time before attempting the test for that particular topic, Go to My Notes Section and revise the concept.
·         Attempt the test again after revising the Session, which will help score higher marks than your previous attempt.

2.    How to check that ERA is installed properly or not?


SDC can verify from the following that ERA is not installed properly.
o   Shot Cut icon of ERA Explorer and MKCL Updater (should get displayed properly on desktop. If not then check following.
§  Go to Control Panel à Add Remove Programs
§  And check that MKCL’s ERA is displayed in the program list or not.
§  Some time it happens that short cut icons are not displayed properly and the MKCL’s ERA is not listed in the program list in Add/Remove program in control panel. Then following needs to be done.
Solution:-
o   Use the MKCL Framework Installer and install ERA once again.
o   Check the above parameters once again for proper installation of MKCL’s ERA.

3.    Is there any difference between the ERA Installation and ERA Activation?


            Yes, there is difference between the Installation and Activation.

o   Installation: - SDC Installs ERA using the MKCL’s ERA Framework Installer given by the MKCL, by which the software framework gets installed; however it will be available for use only after its activation.
o   Activation: - SDC activates ERA by clicking the Activate button on the login Screen on ERA after installation of ERA Explorer. Only after activation SDC can use the ERA.

4.    Is Internet connectivity required while activating ERA Framework?


o   Yes, for activating the ERA Internet connection is required.
